need advice, submitted same essay twice to Yale for RA

urgent, need advice, we submitted the same essay by accident for the common app and for the yale supplement. What is best course of action, we were going to contact the Yale admission office and send in the correct common app essay

Call them and send the other essay by mail

have you seen this problem before? and Yale was OK with it? we are sending the essay out tomorrow and also calling the admission office, thanks for input

wait you submitted your common app essay for the supplement? or vice versa? because if you have your supplement as your common app essay, doesnt that ruin all your other apps too?

e-mail admissions officer, and send the corrected version via e-mail/fax/mail!!

I think you are screwed. You should have gone over it carefully.
I think you should send it express mailing and make sure you call them and make sure they have it. Even if it means half an hour of minutes gone

You are by NO MEANS "screwed," just call/send them an email and send them the new essay by whatever means you can (fax would probably be best).

I will say, though, that the use of "we" throughout that first post concerns me...

The admissions office is probably closed this week. Call and the message will tell you. So do not express mail it becasue there will be no one there to sign for it. I suggest faxing it with a cover letter of explanation. Include your name, birthdate, high school and common app number on both the cover letter and the essay. The Yale deadline is postmark so I suggest also snail mailing the essay and the cover letter in addition to the fax (and mention in the cover letter that you have both mailed and faxed the essay. The snail mail is to cover you for the postmark requirement. Good luck and try not to worry.

call them up and tell them; it won't be a big deal (you'll be able to mail in [or e-mail your regional adcom] the right essay)

in response to basketballbabe13: if they did accidentally put the supplemental for the common app essay, you can create another version of your common app and correct that; I have 3 versions just because of all the schools I'm applying to and what their requirements are (one for Yale since I applied EA, one for princeton since they like everything to be single spaced, and one for everything else; i did make some changes between my yale application and all my other schools' applications [minor changes/more explanation on a couple things], so you can make extra versions of the common app [up to 10, actually] so that you can change and/or fix stuff, like this essay problem)

wow
never knew that
I mean, you should send it to them. Forget screwed, I always use that word.
You should send it. i dunno about an extra common app. I just do not know, totally.
I am sure you will have no trouble.
Once again, forget the word screwed.

I think "we" was used because there is more than one party applying. Help is great, and I think it is a parent that posted this one. Do not worry. Sorry for my harsh and very inconsiderate words. I am truly sorry.
