Need Advice

Hey,

I am a Canadian living in Toronto and I am applying to MIT for 2006. My stats are:

SAT I Verbal: 710
SAT I Math: 800
SAT II MathIIC:800
SAT II Physics: 800
SAT II Chemistry: Giving November 5th

Average 92%
In top 5 of class of 228
Honours throughout high school

Over 600 hours of volunteering

Sports: Rugby, Cross country, Cricket

Clubs: DECA director (1st place winner in provincials), President of Sikh Student Association, Ontario Secondary School Student Association board representative, Chess, Robotics team, Debate

I am considering giving the New SAT I in december because I am going to apply to cornell as well. However I really want to get into MIT and was wondering if my 710 verbal will be good enough. Should I give the SATs in december or should I just focus on my essay and polishing my app?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

You're within MIT's mid-50% range, and frankly, the best you can do is boost it up by 40ish points, after which MIT stops caring (it's obvious you can master the material).

So yeah, if you ask me, essays will definitely help you far more than 40-90 points ever could.

Since you've only taken the old SAT, you might have to take the new SAT - I understand MIT is going a little loose on the exact requirements, but I believe that with the old SAT, one of the three SAT II's has to be humanities. But I don't know.

Thanks for the advice guys. But as of right now, what do you think my chances of getting into MIT as an international student are?
