@staceyneil agreed I think I should just attend my local high school and focus on my future goals I should not worry about how old I will be because in the end I will have accomplished what I wanted to. I may be 20-21 starting college but it is totally fine.
@staceyneil what is your education experience?
I’m a parent; I have a bachelor’s degree from a 4-year university. My daughter is a first-year college student at a selective 4-year LAC.
@staceyneil oh amazing how did you pay for college?
Well, college was much cheaper when I was your age! But I did take out federal student loans, which I have since paid back. In my daughter’s case, we are fairly low-income, and (as many people pointed out earlier) there are some schools that will meet 100% of your federally demonstrated need. My daughter worked really hard and was able to get into one of those schools, so the college itself is paying for most of her expenses. She is also taking out the federal subsidized student loans (she will owe about $22,000 when she graduates) plus she does work-study and got some smaller local scholarships.
@staceyneil that’s great how many schools did she apply to.
She applied to 6 after narrowing her list down from about 15.
@staceyneil oh wow how many did get get accepted to?
