I am taking 4 AP classes and 2 Honors next year (my sophmore year) AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP World History, AP Stats, Acc. English, and Acc. Precalc Do you guys have any advice on how I can get straight A’s. BTW i am mainly just worried about AP Chem. and Physics
AP Chemistry is not as big of a problem as you may believe it is. I am a sophomore this year and I had the same situation as you: 4 AP classes. I managed to get straight A’s and it is highly possible.
Some advice…
AP Chemistry is a math-oriented course and the main interior focus is on algebra skills, memorizing basic concepts and how to solve problems, and using those concepts throughout the year, branching it off into different directions and analysis. With respect to the math, you need to prepare yourself over the summer by learning stoichiometry, which is the most fundamental thing you will need to know throughout the year. It wouldn’t help to familiarize yourself with basic periodic elements and their symbols and locations on the periodic table. Also, learn about how to name compounds and polyatomic compounds. These need to be memorized at the beginning of the year and the sooner you begin, the more easily that A can be achieved.
I have my old summer assignment packet from AP Chemistry and the notes we had to memorize before entering AP Chemistry, and if you would like, I can send you those via email as a document for you to print and begin working on. And then you can check the answers with me.
Also… it’s basically just a matter of working hard but not crazy hard. It is not difficult, and it doesn’t have to do with the teacher; all AP Chemistry content is the same, regardless of the teacher you get. How you prepare and practice is the basis behind it all.
I also had AP World History in common for you… There is something about AP World you will need to message me about because I would not like to say it on here.
As for AP Physics, I didn’t take it but I heard it is very math-oriented and based on the math courses you are collecting in your schedule, I assume you are strong in the area of math.
As for AP Statistics, same as the above. You just need to have a good scientific calculator and learn the basic steps to solving problems.
Precalculus is also a very simple class. You learn the basics of trigonometry, expound on the algebra behind functions, and you memorize a unit circle, which is not hard at all.
English is definitely not hard either… I think sophomores have the usual classic literature curriculum. I remember my class read “Of Mice and Men” and it’s just a lot of study guides and reading. Getting an A is not a turmoil.
I would only be worried about AP World but message me about that.
You will be perfectly fine next year. I promise!
Plus you can always count on me to help you! I have a lot of resources you can find benefit from. I love to help others and it makes me glad that you care about your grades and success in the classes.
