Well, I'm a Senior currently, and these are my scores:

June 2008-

560 - C.R.
750 - Math
680 - Writing

October 2008-

550 - C.R.
750 - Math
660 - Writing

My SAT Superscore is a 1990...and I'm applying to colleges that have a mid 50% range of 2150+...

Should I take the SAT again, in December? (I heard taking it more than two times can be detrimental, can someone fill me in? Do they average your SAT after two times?

And how can I improve my critical reading, I need like a 700, maybe even 750.

Thanks.

BUMPPPPPPP, SOMEONE HELP LOl

Take it one more time if you really think you can raise your score. It's detrimental when it's >3.

oh ok, well december's my last chance anyway haha. any suggestions for improving C.R...like i need a 750 in c.r., i have 1.5 months i can work at it as hard as possible

lol you don't need to keep bumping

umm...when they say more than two times is deterimental, they mean it is very unlikely that your score will change that much. It's not like the schools will reject you and label u as a loser. However, u start taking it too many times without improvement, they'll think " this kid really is 550 material " instead of "maybe that was just a bad day." Catch my drift?

What do you usually get on practice tests? if they are a good indictator, then you should only take the real thing once your practice scores go higher. And if they don't by december, well maybe it wasn't worth it in the first place.

Good luck!

well, the thing is my last year (jr year) i got a 38 on my writing PSAT...yea that's HORRIBLE. i worked for 1 month towards the end of may and improved my writing, and got it to a 680 on the SAT. so im pretty sure if i work at C.R., i WILL improve it, but i need to find out how...especially the reading comprehensions..

Oh hey congrats on the CR improvement. That is really impressive.

Well, I'm sure you heard about Direct Hits for vocab. I feel like their advertiser now - i recommend it to all my friends.

Reading comprehension is really about finding the exact words in the passage. You should be able to justify one answer the most. The ones that bug me are the ones with 49 v. 51 splits on justification (well, in my opinion, anyway). Also, when you take official BB practice tests, and you get a question wrong, take their word like God. Remember, they choose answer choices are correct, not the people who know what's really right. So assume that the particular answer the Collegeboard said was correct really, without a doubt is correct. Look for a way to justify that answer from the passage. After doing that for a while, you will hopefully see a pattern with how answers are typically buried in a passage.

Good luck otra vez

thanks brotha, i dont think vocab is a problem, i got 19/19 sentence completions right in june, but i got like 20 reading comprehension wrong....so how can i attack that lol?
