Need aid?

Well, for Syracuse (my #1), I'd only be able to attend there if I am granted aid of at least 70% of my costs.

But if ED is binding, but I end up not getting aid, what happens?

quick response please, since everything is due tomorrow I need to know if I'm, applying ED or rd

If you don’t get enough ED aid, you decline the offer and apply RD elsewhere.

Isn’t ED binding though?

One way you can decline the ED acceptance is if the financial aid is not sufficient for you to attend.

I’m curious…why did you apply ED if finances are such a huge consideration?

I would VERY strongly suggest that you run the Net Price Calculators for EACH of the colleges you are applying to. NONE of these schools guarantees to meet full need. The privates on your list are very expensive schools…like in the $50,000 a year range.

You say you need 70% of the cost in aid…which would be a about $35,000 a year. The thing is…the aid is calculated based on what your family CAN pay, not on what you think you need. need based aid is largely based on your parents’ incomes.

If you run the Net Price Calculator for Syracuse (and all of the other schools on your list), you will get a very good estimate of potential aid and your net cost.

I hope you are instate for NJ, and that theses schools are affordable for your family as well.

Wasn’t Syracuse’s ED deadline on Dec 1st?

Did you have your parents run the NPC on SU’s website?

ED II 10c

If you ask for ED financial aid, it’s binding when you accept the aid offer. If you don’t ask for aid, it’s binding when you’re admitted.

Syracuse ED I deadline was December 1. Because of a computer glitch, they have created an ED II deadline that is January 1, 2014. There is NO ED deadline at Syracuse that is tomorrow.

Before you apply ED, I would strongly urge you to use the Net Price Calculator on the Syracuse website.

If you really have significant financial aid needs, it might be better for you to apply regular decision so that you can compare the bottom line costs amongst a number of offers. With ED, you will ONLY have a financial aid offer from Syracuse (which does not guarantee to meet full need). That offer could be the worst you, get…or it could be the best. You will have NO WAY of knowing.

In addition, you should submit ALL of you other applications as well.

ETA…the Profile for ED II as well as the application for admission BOTH have January 1, 2014 deadlines. Nothing has a deadline of December 8 that I can see. NOTHING. Where do you see this? Or is this a deadline to get your documents in to your high school for submission?
