Need ..... and more need!!

so--it's not as hard to get into middlebury with full or a significant amount of financial aid as getting into need-aware schools like cornell, upenn or columbia.

so suppose i have a score of 4/5 and need a full-ride and another bloke also has a score of 4/5 and needs 20% money he is gonna get the chance?

[tears short-circuit the key-board ... :(]

yes adrivit, unfortunately that's true as far as i'm concerned. yet again, you never know what might happen. try early decision if you really want midd and are sure you'll go there if you get accepted.

and rob a bank to compensate for what they don't give me!! on a serious note, i will be needing a full-ride, financially i even qualify for one so I will apply RD only and see what happens ...

What about the other two schools? amherst and williams I mean, since these are the 3 supposedly need-blind schools.

I'm deciding between the 3 for ED, so financial aid matters a lot, since I won't be able to compare if by good luck I manage to get in.

Amherst and Williams are both awesome in aid. Specially Williams. Apply to whichever school fits you better.

amherst is NOT need blind for international students; and is not awesome in aid.

Amherst IS need-blind (like 99.99%) .. that's what they said in their brochure to me!

that probably is only true for americans, because when i applied they were not, unfortunately.

no i differ ... i know a guy here who got a full scholarship from Amherst and Williams! he's going to Princeton anyway!

@echoes - which country??

Amherst became need blind for internationals a few months ago:

https://cms.amherst.edu/alumni/newsfromcampus/enews/enewsarchive/node/45475

just 'cause you "know a guy" doesn't make them need-blind.

Did you see the link and then post this??

no, for some reason Arcadia's comment was not on the page when I placed my comment. Regardless, my comment still applies. I was commenting on your logic as opposed to your substance.

Oh ... bad logic anyway. But Amherst sent this International Students Brochure sub-part to me which clearly stated that financial need wouldn't be taken into consideration for admission. I was just trying to support that with an example.

Anyways, since I was almost on the brink of finalising my college list, I need some help. Which LACs DO offer FULL RIDES to internationals? I know Colgate, Colby, Bates, Dickinson. I know all are need-aware, I don't care. Any other colleges??

when i was applying amherst was totally need-aware, sorry for the confusion! (class of 2011 here). vassar, wesleyan, connecticut, hamilton and lafayette also are good in terms of financial aid, but i'm not sure if they offer full financial aid.

For LAC's, only Williams, Middlebury, and now Amherst are need-blind for Internationals

Schools Awarding International Financial Aid

I know about the need-blind ones. But any need-aware full-ride givin' ones??

many financial aid giving ones also offer full ride.
