Need Apartments advice (Transfering students to UCR)

I got admitted into Fall 2011 in UCR. I checked with the UCR owned apartments, and they are mostly full. I'm trying to look for a off campus apartment privately owned, but I cannot find roommates. I cannot find any place that is cheap and close to school with 1 Bedroom/ 1 Bathroom or a studio. I can only pay up to $750 at most.. and I'm looking for places that are clean and easy parking. And I heard UCR community is not safe... sighhh i just dont want my car to get stolen by thief.. lol

anyway can you guys give suggestion please? also is there anywhere to look for roommates? I want someone that can speak mandarin because my english speaking is bad.... this is why I cannot find roommate because they dont uderstand wat i say

I have a friend looking for someone to take over his lease at sterling palms (which i hear is pretty nice). He can pay first month. His roommates (well more like apartment mates) are i believe predominantly asian, not sure what they speak (probably mandarin or cantonese). Their all second years. Lemme know if your interested so i can get more info for you.
