Does anyone know a site that has a list of merit scholarship that also strongly considers need, that I could apply to? My family income is around $30k.

Thanks!!

I would try Questbridge if you’re an underclassman

No, I’m a senior already accepted into my first choice college. I just need some money to pay for it =/

Yosup…

You’re a senior in high school, right?

Did you apply to any schools that meet need?

What is your financial safety school??

edited to add…cross posted with Yosup…

Where did you get accepted? Does it meet need?

It’s very unlikely to find outside scholarships that will pay for 4 years at a college - including room and board, etc. Outside scholarships tend to be rather small, and sometimes are just for one year.

I’m going to University of Michigan. I’m in-state, so I think they usually meet need. My parents can probably pay $1k-3k even though our EFC is 0, and I can get a summer job to make it work. Still, with the pell grant and other federal/state aid + university aid, I’m really hoping U of M comes through for me.

I guess I have a financial safety, but I don’t want to go there no matter what (lol), and I already turned down a guaranteed $3k and potential $40k scholarship. I really want to make U of M work out.

Yosup, you can go to large centralized sites like [FastWeb : Scholarships, Financial Aid, Student Loans and Colleges](http://www.fastweb.com/), but the best place to start is your high school counseling office. They are usually the best place to get information on local and regional scholarship opportunities, and students usually get their best outcomes with those rather than large national scholarship competitions.

Does UMich meet need with loans?

Yes, from what I’ve heard they meet at least 90% (usually 100%) with a max of $5500 in loans for in-state students. I’m just trying to get scholarships to minimize loans, and in-case U of M doesn’t meet all of my need :(

Good idea.

With the economy the way it is in Mich, who knows what they’ll be able to do in future years.

Thanks. I’m not counting on it, but I’m thinking maybe I could get scholarships to defray my loans completely, and get a laptop (since I am going to be a computer science major…) :).
