Need Based Scholarships

Then u need to find the public w the cheapest coa

I wrote the above from my cell phone, but I wanted to add…

Because you aren’t a high school student (age 21) and you already have college credits, you are in the worst situation for private scholarships.

Therefore, you’re pretty much going to be getting Pell plus student loans. Since you’re an independent, you’ll get to borrow more.

9500 for frosh
10500 for soph
12500 for junior
12500 for seniors

So…the total an independent can borrow for undergrad is… $45,000? Is that right?

So…when you add the $5550 per year from Pell, that’s another $22,100.

so…you need to find a Texas public that has the cheapest COA (keep in mind that each school will have annual increases), so that $67,000 will cover all 4 years.

you’ll have to work some kind of job in the summer and school year for personal expenses. Hopefully, you can get some work-study money so the earnings won’t get counted towards your EFC. As an independent, you will have some income protection.

Hopefully, you can find one that will cost less than that so that you won’t have to borrow that much.

Just to give you some idea of how much some Texas publics cost…

**
Tuition, fees, room, board, books…**

TAMU - Corpus Christi - $17k (your chosen safety - but tuition is only $6500, so if you know if you can get R&B for less than $9500, then this could be cheaper.)

TAMU - Int’l U - $14k (tuition is only $6100 and R&B are $7k)

TSU-San Marcos: $16k

UT-Dallas: $22k

UT-San Antonio: $19k

U North Texas: $15,500

UT-Arlington: $ 15,500

UT-Tyler: $ 15,500

West Texas A&M: $13,500 (the lowest!)

UT-El Paso : $14k

Tex A&M Galveston: $15k

I know that you think that somehow you’re going to find privates more affordable, but since your stats aren’t strong and you’re not an incoming freshmen, it’s not likely that you’re going to find any affordable privates.
