maybe aound 8(?) schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, etc
are need-blind even to internationals.
Even though they are saying this, is it really true ?

Around 70 ~ 80% of all applicants are qualified to get accepted
to top schools, but due to limited spaces, they are all rejected.

Considering this fact, to the school,
as especially nowadays the economy is too bad,
probably they might prefer students who want to pay
by him/herself for 4 yrs compared to FA applicants(including internationals)
if they have almost same specs and they might accept some really
poor students with FA into very limited spaces.

You can’t assume that 70-80% of qualified applicants got rejected because of their financial need. It’s very difficult to get into those schools as American citizens, and it’s even harder for internationals because understandably funds should be reserved for Americans first. Admit rate for intls is about 3% or less. But if you’re good enough, they will give u a place regardless of ur financial status.

That said, nobody really knows what goes on behind those closed doors. Inevitably everyone loves a full-paying kid, especially so in this economic climate.

I got into HYP with full finaid offer so i believe they are very generous :)

interesting question i must say. with the really generous ones like Harvard, do what I did. don’t apply for financial aid and when you do get in, tell them you want it. and you get it.
i did that and it worked for me. hopefully it will for you too, provided you get in ofcourse ;)

I don’t believe that any school is truly need blind. Universities are run like businesses, ivy covered halls and all. There is no transparency and as private instuitutions schools like Harvard are not obliged to be. They can and will take anyone they please and don’t have to defend their choice.
