Hmm so i've been going around the forums looking for a chance thread for UT with my stats. well here they are im a huge slacker and im regretting every moment.

I took all the toughest classes at my school every single AP possible next year

bio ap
govt ap
economics ap
english ap
ap comp sci
French AP

So with all that what do you think my chances for
Mccombs @ UT
UT engineering
A&M ENgineering
Rice bio-engineering

bump please

bummmmmmmmmmmp

hmmm if ure from houston do u go to clements h.s.?

how is ur gpa so low but ur sat so frickin good

otherwise:
UT engineering: safety. Honors: Low reach (cuz they look at test scores)
Rice: low reach (ure instate...and they tend to have a lower acceptance for instate students...don't worry, i live in houston and from my school, even though its very competitive, they have reservations accepting us....)
A&M: definite safety. dude if u get into UT...don't go to A&M

Ok i have some other suggestions:
-take sat iis
-if u want to be a biomedical engineer, i suggest doing chemical or civil engineering first and then for grad school do biomed, cuz direct undergrad for biomed won't yeild that many jobs.

:)

I'd say both Rice and UT Engineering are significant reaches. Although you have a very good SAT score. It's hard to call. Just apply and see.

A&M you are probably in, but don't go there it really sucks. I'd recommend researching some more schools to apply to. Try looking out of state.

ok misterme2009, another question.
is UT engineering really that hard to get into, or just UT engineering Honors?

I'm taking a lot of AP classes and i supose that my GPA will go up or i hope anyways. I dont really want to go to A&M but i dont want to go to Sam Houston either. ALSo i was thinking of looking OOS but my parents wont pay the OOS fee's. Unless its top 20 schools they would rather me go to UT and get instate tuition

what is OOS?

UT engineering isn't that hard to get into...but if you are not in the top ten percent, space is very limited. For the honors programs, I am not sure...but the standards are obviously higher than those for regular admissions. The honors programs are probably nearly as selective as Rice.

actually, honors programs at UT
-most ppl r w/in top 2% of the class
-most ppl have SAT above 1460 (old scale)
-they rely on test scores more than grades/gpa/rank
-the first ten percent of entering class gets accepted (if they apply)

:)

anonymous07 do u go to clements h.s.?

nah i got to klein but OOS is OUT OF STATE
