Need chancing ! :-)

I'm an Indian student living in Nigeria . Have stayed here for like 6 years
SATS
CR - 750 , Math - 720 , Writing - 670

SAT II 780 - Maths level 2 , 760 - Physics . Did Chem too , 740 .

I hope I can write a kickass essay
I'm studying the CBSE (an Indian board) curriculum and have come first in my class for the past 6 years . Also , in the Board Exams (all-India) , I got a 100 in my Maths which puts me in the top 0.01 % of students who appeared . I'm hoping that lends credibility to my school scores considering that the largest my class has ever been is like 60 students.
I will be applying for aid to most schools, I think .

Here are my schools (doing engineering)

1) MIT
2) UPenn
3) Cal-Tech
4) Cornell
5) Dartmouth
6) Stanford
7) UCLA (no aid...)
8) Northwestern
9) Ohio state
10) Princeton

I also have like a million EC's but since I'm in a rather small school , I'm discounting their impact. Though , I have played table-tennis and basketball at state level in Nigeria. Participated in Student Government. That's about it.
Thanks and let me know if you want me to chance you.

Hey man, I think youre a good prospect to go to one of the schools you listed. Just remember that since you are an Indian and an international, it might be tougher but focusing on your talents and uniqueness will be the key. Also, have you taken any math competitions outside school, if you can that might bolseter your chances for MIT and Cal Tech. ALso apply early to these schools. Good luck.

Can you chance me as well? Id appreciate it.

That SAT score is pretty low for those kinds of schools.

Your SAT II scores are good.

I don't know if your board exam score qualifies you for all those ivies you just listed. Because that's essentially what your application is riding on.

If I had to guess, I'd say you're overshooting yourself, but you still have a shot at all those colleges. Especially since you only mentioned the math board exam - if you got in top .01% of all the exams, then that would be impressive.

Find a couple of safeties. Most of those schools (except UCLA, Ohio State and maybe Northwestern) admit around 10% of their applicants. You can have nearly 2400 on the SATs and nearly a 4.0 and be accepted there or rejected there, they just have so many amazing applicants.

Being international puts you in a different category; but I'd still find 1 - 2 schools that admit about 50% of their applicants, to be safe.

Be aware that many American schools do not offer nearly as much aid to Internationals as they do to US students; read the Fin Aid pages of the websites carefully!

Thanks for the reply.Yeah , I have actually been debating on whether or not to do my SATS again. I think I'd be able to boost my Writing and Maths (for sure) , but I don't know whether to take the risk on my CR
The Ivies do seem a reach, but I'm hoping that I'd manage Cornell and Northwestern at least.

Anyone else ?
