I’m confused with the changes in class schedule because of the Georgia State game and also what days classes are not in session for Thanksgiving.

Do classes meet on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or not?

Also, when do classes not meet on the week of the Georgia State game?

Classes will not meet on that Thursday or game day. They resume Friday morning.

As for Thanksgiving, there are no classes Wednesday, Thursday (Thanksgiving) or Friday. They will resume Monday, Nov. 29.

[fall2010 Academic Calendar - The University of Alabama](http://www.registrar.ua.edu/calendar/fall_2010_general.html)

Oh, great, no classes Wednesday! I was confused about this, since it said on the calendar that the university was open normal business hours.

So if one is in driving distance, they really could come home for Wednesday and Thursday, and get back in time for the game on Friday. And then they could have Saturday and Sunday to get their school work done.

And so the Georgia State game does not make a long weekend. I was thinking of this as an option since son does not have a ticket to that game. It’s just (no class Thursday", but still class on Friday. Of course, if one does not have class on Friday, it is a long weekend. (Hint to teachers!)

Yup, when the calendar says the university is open for normal business hours on holidays, it means the university itself will be open but classes are dismissed.

Note how it’s written on the calendar…

October 29 Mid-Semester Break (classes dismissed)
November 18 Mid-Semester Break (classes dismissed)
November 23 Last day for all tests, etc
November 24 Classes Dismissed (UA open normal business hours)
November 25-26 Holiday - Thanksgiving
November 29 Classes resume at 7:00 AM

This lets you know that there aren’t classes on Nov 24, but the business offices are open.

The last day for tests is Nov 23rd, so people who will be skipping Monday and Tuesday classes before T’giving need to clear with profs to take any test prior to Nov 23.
