Need College Help Badly

My daughter applied to NYU ED and doesn't want to think about anywhere else, but let's face it, it's time to apply to other schools RD.
She needs help thinking of other schools. She is humanities oriented, kind of artsy, but doesn't want to be in a rural environment.

STATS:

SAT 1: best composite score 2200 (740 cr, 660 math, 800 writing)

SAT2s not so good: 650 lit, 650 French and she doesn't want to take them again

took 5 APs, rest honors courses, GPA 3.5 (but that includes gym!) probably 3.6 without it

Lots of drama (was in every school play, worked at community theatre in the summer, accepted into Tisch summer program), but doesn't want to major in it.
counselor at camp for kids with AIDS for two summers
takes outside courses in comedy and improv
otherwise a few school clubs, nothing special
Gymnast for 8 years, but quit after sophomore year to do drama

She is considering George Washington, BU, Tufts, Emory, UChicago, but that's not enough and she needs some safeties. Any thoughts out there?

Wise to add schools, as her gpa is just a bit light for very selective schools. BU seems a good choice. If an LAC would work maybe Reed College (match) or Lewis & Clark (safety).

She doesn't want to go to the West Coast. Any thought on East Coast schools that are not too rural (suburban is fine)

I agree, Goucher , Clark and American would be safeties. Sarah Lawrence has easy access to NYC and is also a possibility.

What about Bard? Not urban or suburban, but artsy and humanities oriented, and only 2 hrs to NYC by train.

Both Sarah Lawrence and Bard would be nice choices, and are definitely safeties for her. Bard is, alas, not urban. Beloit is somewhat urban, but it's in Wisconsin. Northeastern (Boston) is a safety. She should go to princetonreview.com, plug in her stats and requirements, and click on the list of safeties. I think it's called counselor-o-matic.

I also think she has an excellent chance at NYU. Good luck to you both!

dude...ur daughter is in NYU like 95 percent. I would give her that even for RD. She has a 740 on verbal, which is like 100 pts higher than the average at NYU.
