Title pretty much sums it up. No matter what prep books I read and how much I practice, I can't seem to "get" the SAT Math. Can someone tell me what I'm supposed to do? I've got some time...I'm taking the PSAT (I got 64 on the math last year) in October, the SAT in May and the ACT in June. I know there are plenty of threads offering tips, but does anyone have any math-specific advice for those of us who are mathematically challenged? My grades aren't that great, so I pretty much have no other option but to score perfectly on all of the standardized tests I take.

Practice, but not just on SAT math. That'll only get you so far. Practice Algebra, Geometry, Precalc and whatall they have on the test these days. Don't just do problems to practice, but work with people. Ask your teacher. If your teacher can't help, ask someone else to explain the same thing. Someone will say it a way that makes sense. Get a knack for word problems and angles. Don't get discouraged, and don't feel bad if you don't get 800. 640 isn't too bad. Depending on what college you want to go to, getting up to 700 will be fine.

I'm the resident "smart girl" of my HS, and I got a 720 on the math. I'm so horrible with basic stuff--give me calc any day. So that's what you should focus on. That algebra brought me down.
