i was accepted to Emory but waitlisted at Notre Dame. I wanted to attend ND mainly because of the large alumni which can later lead to great connections. But is it worth it? Should i reapply or attend Emory

when and how did you receive your Emory decision?

I got an early notification acceptance. For a program called essence of emory

Emory is a good school. If I were you, I’d make a deposit at Emory (because you have to make a deposit somewhere anyway) and wait to see if ND takes you off the waitlist. If they do and your heart is still set on ND, accept! If they don’t, Emory is a great place to be (I myself wouldn’t mind being there next year!). Good luck!!!

Pick Emory!!! but if ure really set on ND then stay on the WL. Good luck!

Damn, I really wish I was a minority for Emory. I would’ve gotten my decision too :(.

thanks so much guys!
what if i get accepted to.nd off the waitlist. do you think its worth it?

no, unless you’re catholic and want to wake up 6 in the morning for bible study sessions

@chocolatenutz - how true is that? :O

^ completely making that up. Dont listen to that garbage that chocolate is throwing out. ND > Emory. Simple.

why do you say that? ^

Well the whole bible study thing is obviously fake. ND doesn’t shove religion down your throat if you don’t want it to be.

You can make it as religious or non religious as you want. People like chocolate (joking I think) spread these rumors that people believe but aren’t true.

no i mean why do you say nd over emory im curious to know if its because of the prestige or education etc

i think it’s totally up to you both schools are excellent. It just comes down to which one you like better and which one would you be happier at. I’ve heard that ND is pretty awesome. I’m pretty sure ND has good Div 1 teams but emory lacks in sports. But it is in ATL which is nice…ND is more traditional i guess. Honestly, if you want to go that bad to ND then stay on the WL if not, then don’t! maybe someone else might get the chance to go to ND if you withdraw… good luck! :)

I say ND because of the total package. You have a great school (just like Emory) with great undergraduate focus (ranked near the top in undergraduate teaching), great D1 sports (football dominated but great at all sports!), a very beautiful campus, strong school spirit, good Catholic identity with strong values, laid back students (sweats, PJ’s and hoodies are very common for class’s), good party athmosphere if you go that route and very bright students (ACT average is higher than everyone in country but Princeton and Stanford), #1 undergrad business program, new 80 million dollar science building, and is on the rise by moving up many places in the last few years (set to pass Cornell, an ivy, soon).

wow thanks so much everyone!

what Emory lacks in sports makes up in the academics. When you spend money on sports we actually spend on the students. 18 vs 42
Also Emory is currently planning to build a proton therapy facility costing approximately $200 million

this is ver y true
do you go to emory?

I would go to Emory. considering that you don’t even know yet if you got into ND, Emory would definitely be the choice.

Well, you don’t currently have a choice, you have to go with Emory (or somewhere else you got in), unless you get off the ND waitlist. I wrote some advice for waitlisted students on the ND forum, the thread should still be on the first page.

First, you shouldn’t depend on rankings. Second, if you really wanted to rank, wealth of the school seems like a pointless one. A Catholic school is far less likely to horde money for an endowment, and so spends it on students as it comes in.

And if you’re going to look at a rank, why not undergraduate teaching? [Best Undergraduate Teaching | Rankings | Top National Universities | US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/undergraduate-teaching/spp+50)

ND 4 vs Emory unranked.

But again, I only do this to counter your ranking. Rankings should not be the primary focus.

That will have little impact on the average undergraduate, and construction has yet to begin (the site hasn’t even been selected), so it will likely take years, possibly past the time the OP will be there.

But again, I only say this to counter an erroneous point. Emory is an excellent school, and you should be proud to go there. Don’t worry about comparing it to a waitlist option, unless you actually get accepted off the waitlist.

Good luck.
