Need Help/Advice on Deciding What to Do!!! Biological Sciences/Public Health Science

Before applying to UMD EA, I was torn between Biology and Public Health Science as I want to go medical school after getting my B.S., but I eventually decided to put down Biology in the application. I got my decision back and I had been admitted to Letters and Sciences instead of directly into Biology. I was wondering how many semesters it would take before I could transfer into Biology? Could I do it after the first semester? I don’t really like how on my transcript my major would be “Undecided” because it doesn’t look too good and it could hurt my chances of getting a good summer internship. I am considering just changing my major to Public Health Science and getting a B.S. in that instead of Biological Sciences. The Public Health Science website says students who major in that go onto attend medical, dental, and vet school, but looking at the curriculum, a lot of basic course requirements needed for Medical School are missing, so I’m not sure how I could fill those. Can I please have some advice. Should I just stay in Letters and Sciences and transfer into Bio later or just go to Public Health Science (Remember the end goal is Med School). PS I was really really surprised as to why I was put into Letters and Sciences because I had a high test score and GPA (Much higher than what UMD asked for). This is a very stressful time period for me, any advice would be helpful! Thank you everyone in advance!!!

Public Health Sci actually covers a decent amount of pre-med reqs (bio, chem, orgo l and biochem) but fitting other courses shouldn’t be too challenging (the 4 year plan doesnt require you to take 17 credits of courses for your major every quarter and ap exemptions should also assist you in freeing your schedule). You don’t need a certain major to get into med school and should remember that bio goes in depth on the subject so if it’s not something you adore you shouldn’t feel compelled to major in it because of your grad school plans. I’m an intend major in Public Health Sci and I’ve spoken with students and one of the advisers and she said that is certainly doable. If you are adamant on majoring in biology, one of the UMD advisers can help you with that journey as it is an LEP.

I’m a Pre-Dental student and my major is Chemistry
