Need help again....

Okay. Thanks thumper. Like I said somewhere above, the money for the tutoring isn't that great anyway and it's only two to three hours a week.

I was told by my advisor (for some reason they gave me a cultural anthro. professor as an advisor....LOL) to ask the forensic anthro. professor about getting an internship at the arch. center anyway for my final semester (it would go along with an internship course--but the internship course is taught by a cultural anthropology instructor, so I don't know if he would allow me to take his course in conjunction with doing an internship at the arch. center through the forensic anthro. prof. Somehow I pray that this works out, because I told my advisor that I wanted to take the internship class and do some type of arch./forensic anthro internship with it. The only problem being what I mentioned above--the class is taught by a cultural anthro. prof. and I will have to ask him if he will allow me to take his class. God this stuff is so messed up and complicated!!! On top of that, I didn't receive any notice about the honors program in anthro, even though I've checked the website and I meet the qualifications. So now I have to deal with that too.

Bluealien, the best summer job is one that follows along the same path as your major.

Most of jobs I see are typical teenage type stuff. Walmart, fast food, etc, which isn't related to anything I like or my major. I don't know where you live, but that's honestly most of what we have here. I have spent many hours online searching internships, but the sites all seem catered to the professions employers want to hire people in today--business, journalism, education, etc. I guess the lesser known stuff just doesn't matter.

My daughter, an ed major, is a camp counselor during the summer. She enjoys her job, gets paid and gets brownie points on her resume.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen sites looking for camp counselors everywhere...but I don't like that type of stuff. It's not for me.
I'd be bored to death, not to mention that I really don't like kids all that much. I used to volunteer for the church nursery, but I got sick of the screaming kids. I cannot handle stuff like that. I would secretly like to work in the library, but that's for workstudy students.

There must be several bluealiens running around because the one I've talked to before was clearly not a college student. (Cue Twilight zone music.) What's up?

If you are talking about when I messaged you, that's just the way I behave when I am upset. I don't know why.

Thumper, just out of curiosity, what are the hottest careers out there now? It seems that anything computer related is really important, and of course teachers are needed. Maybe I am just going into a field that does not have many opportunities??

bluealien, we'll take this private.

Honestly I have no idea. I do know that most areas of engineering are good. So is special education, speech pathology, nursing, secondary math and science teaching. BUT I have told my own children to study in a field that is of interest to them. It makes no sense to pursue a career in a field in which you have little or no interest because the job potential is better.
