Hello everyone I'm going to be a Junior in High School next year, and I am interested in applying for the UOP Pre-Pharmacy program. I'm interested in applying for the (2+3) program, which includes 2 years of undergraduate studies and 3 years of Pharmacy school. I really am not interested in trying to apply for the college unless I know that I will have a good chance of getting in. What I would like to know is if I will have a good chance of getting into UOP's Pre-Pharmacy program.

GPA: Hovering around a 4.0, but will hopefully be around a 4.05 by Sr. year.
Classes: By the end of senior year I will have taken 9 AP classes and 2 honors classes. These classes include Adv. Chemistry, Adv. Biology, US History, Micro/Macro Gov. and Econ., English, and Calc AB. I will be taking AP exams for at least 7 of these 9 AP classes.
SAT Score: I haven't taken the SAT yet but what would be an ideal score to get? How should I go about studying for it? I will defiantly strive to get the highest score possible.
Activities: I'm planning on volunteering at my local hospital for 4 hours a week, and will also be looking out for other volunteer opportunities in the medical field especially pharmacy. I also played on the soccer team Sophomore year, but I don't think I'll be participating my Jr. and Sr. year.

That's pretty much it for now if there's anything missing please let me know, and if you have any advise for me please include that as well. Cost isn't really an issue for me as I will be getting financial aide, and taking out student loans, but if there are other colleges that offer Pre-Pharmacy programs at a cheaper price please let me know.

I am amazed that you haven’t taken the initiative to take the SAT’s during jr’ year. This might be detrimental to your chances of getting in if you fail to score above the schools highly competitive sat scores.I hope that you will work on a way to being admitted to UOP but your chances may be bleak. For financial aid the school has a cal grant matching promise. They will match your Cal grants and for pharmacy it costs roughly around 88k-90k per year and average assistance for pharmD students are around 30k and the rest are loans. also on a SIDE note your chances of getting into UOP’s 5 year program with your gpa /(and lack of sat score) is like threading a needle with your eyes covered shut without guiding the string.

Apply anyway! Everyone has a chance, and there’s no application fee hahah. You’re only losing about 2 hours of your life, and you would most likely get in!

You can take both the SAT and ACT, and most universities will use whichever score gives you the best reflection. The Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Dentistry, and Legal Scholars (Pre-Law) programs at Pacific are very competitive, but the high quality and accelerated option are powerful draws for students.

Hey DrAdmission, I just read your post from last Oct. re: the competitiveness of Pacific’s Legal Scholars program. I’m going to interview for it on Monday, and am desperately seeking sage advice, or at least an insight into the types of questions I might be asked. I’ve been admitted to Pacific’s College of Engineering and into the Honors program, and have now received an invitation to interview for LS. Hadn’t really considered it, but now I’m curious and want to know more, especially why they’re recruiting engineering majors for the program. In addition to the interview, I’ll be overnighting on campus, sitting in on a couple of classes, and meeting with an advisor in Engineering.
If you’re familiar with the LS interview process, I’d really like to hear from you. Thanks!
