Need Help! At a Roadblock

So I've been surfing the web lately on internships and programs abroad. I've found a few that interest me and pertain to what I want to major in. Do colleges like people who do programs that cost money, (e.g. internships, abroad programs) but still gives them experience pertaining to what kind of major, career, they want to go into? Does it also add weight to your resume when applying to a specific major for a college? Basically, does me doing a program or intern that cost money help my resume if I know what major or field i want to go into? The intern and/or program gives me experience to the field that i want to go into. Thanks

Telling them that you are interested in traveling abroad may not change whether you get in or not, if that is what you are asking. Lots of students want to travel abroad, but only a subset actually can do it due to schedules, costs, and other factors. Also, so many kids travel abroad these days that it’s not as unique as it used to be, but the experience itself can be good for seeing another part of the world and broadening yourself. Getting an internship can be valuable as it would show you are serious about the field you are eventually trying to get a job. As an employer, both traveling abroad and taking an internship can make for a good interview topic, but if you didn’t have the internship you likely wouldn’t be invited for the interview.
