Need Help Building My List

I plan on either majoring in Photojournalism or a combo of Journalism and Photography, and these are the schools I'm considering:

UC-Berkeley (Far far reach, pretty much a dream school where I'd feel upset if I didn't give it a try)

San Jose State University
Ohio State University
University of Miami

Are there any others that I should be considering? My ACT is a 31, my GPA is around a 3.7 and I have several ECs, but not a huge amount.

Indiana University has one of the best journalism programs in the country...And you would get 7k/yr in scholarships there.

How's their photography? So far the hardest part of finding a college is finding one good at both.

I checked their website, and yeah...they don't seem to have a lot with photography.

If I can think of some other schools, I'll post them.

Good Luck

Oh maybe the University of Arizona. I know they have a center for creative photography, and a strong journalism program.

Is that the one in Tucson? I heard something good about some school in Arizona, but I didn't remember which one it is.

Yah the University of Arizona is in Tuscon.

Arizona State University is in Tempe.

Do you know how Univ. of Arizona compares academically to San Jose State and UMiami? The price and location are making it look pretty good.

ive heard some not so good things about university of arizona. ive also heard that tucson is really dirty.

University of Arizona, academically, is stronger than SJSU and on par with UM.

Tucson is nice, cooler than Tempe.

Just a note: Ohio State University is called The Ohio State University. ;)

wait, we are talking about university of miami (fl), right? if so, then arizona is definitely not on par with them. miami is a really good, top 50 school. arizona is mediocre at best.

UM #52, Arizona #96...ok. I would say it depends on your major, cost and other factors (do you prefer a dry heat sauna or a steam bath?).

Arizona is looking pretty good right now, how hard is it to get in? And do they really call is The Ohio State University? Everybody here either calls it OSU or Ohio State.

^ It's true...I'm sure a Michigan fan/student can tell you more about it. ;)

U of A accepts 80% of people....You need like a 3.0 to get in.

Schools with solid journalism program:

Columbia University (NY)
Northwestern University (IL)
University of Missouri- Columbia (MO)
University of Minnesota- Twin Cities (MN)
University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign (IL)
University of Wisconsin- Madison (WI)
University of Michigan- Ann Arbor (MI)
Stanford University (CA)
University of Texas- Austin (TX)
Indiana University – Bloomington (IN)
University of Iowa (IA)
University of Southern California (CA)
New York University (NY)
Boston University (MA)
University of Maryland- College Park (MD)
Wayne State University (MI)
Syracuse University (NY)
Michigan State University (MI)
University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill (NC)
Pennsylvania State University- University Park (PA)
Ohio State University- Columbus (OH)
Ohio University (OH)

The thing is that I'm unsure how much of a focus journalism should be, since my career goal is photojournalism.

If you're interested in photography, CalArts, in Valencia is a prestigious program.

Does anybody know which if journalism or photography is more important for photojournalism? I'm trying to figure out if I should go to a school strong in journalism or one strong in photography.

Anymore info on the University of Arizona and San Jose? They seems to be the 2 most likely ones for me right now.
