Hi there! I’m a high school senior applying to Carnegie Mellon and I know this is late to ask, but I was wondering whether I would have better chances applying to the School of Computer Science ED or applying to the College of Fine Arts for the BCSA program RD. The reason I’m not applying to the CFA ED for BCSA is that I don’t have my art portfolio ready for the November 1 deadline. I know ED shows commitment to the school, but I can’t help but think my application would be stronger with my art portfolio and also having taken the SAT Physics subject test in December. Also, I think my chances would be way higher through the CFA instead of SCS seeing the acceptance rate differences, but CMU is my top choice so I don’t know if I should apply ED or not. Here are some of my stats if they help:
ACT: 35
SAT Math II: 800
Rank: 49/1380 (top 3.5%)
Lots of CS ECs, leadership positions, art awards
