Hey guys. Anyways im in grade 10 right now. I live in Canada so if you're a canadian student it'd help alot to hear your thoughts on this one.
k just a while ago i was having this big argument with my mom about what courses i should take in grade 11 and 12. she keeps telling me to take this and that. now obviously it's frustrating for me because i'm taking the course load and the tests.
here's where my question comes in. my mom wants me to take all 3 sciences for both grades. In my school, i can take bio 12 without completing Bio 11. I was wondering if universities require that you take biology 11? And another thing, do you guys find it better to have hard courses in both grade 11 AND 12 or to make grade 11 harder and have a easy grade 12?
hope i made myself clear and thanks for your help
ps. I live in BC so if you know the BC curriculum that's even better

you'll have to check with your school for that, biology 11 and biology 12 have no meaning to people outside of your school probably, just like 502 and 512 would have no meaning to you.

although i'm guessing 12 is 12th grade then? colleges never require two bios though or something like that. it's sort of analogous to AP Calc AB and Calc BC. you can take BC without AB, no one needs it.

I'm from BC too... I took advanced science in grade 9 so in grade 10 I took 2 science 11's, and now in grade 11 I'm taking the other science 11 and 2 science 12's. If I were you I'd take all 3 sciences. And I think it doesn't hurt to have rigorous course loads in both grade 11 and 12. And Bio 12 is so completely different from Bio 11. I love Biology though :]

Hi, I am from BC also and know the courses well. Do you want to stay in Canada for univerisity? Im almost sure no Canadian university will require Bio 11, at least none of the ones I know of. I would suggest against taking Bio 11. I would say make grade 12 an easier year, once again if your applying to a Canadian university its different. If you have any questions please ask about anything.

well i would like to go to an american university, i really dont want to stay in BC for university, if i go to canadian university i would probably go for U of T or Waterloo and have UBC as a last resort

by all means take all 3 (thats what I did anyways,)
My school is different though (I live in BC by the way), if I want to take AP science then I have to take honour 11, so I took all 3 and is now taking all 3 AP's
My Canadian choices are also UT, Waterloo and UBC (and McGill) ^^

Wow there's a lot of us BC'er here

well i wish i could take AP's but my school only has AP calculus, which i am taking. Also i've decided to take leadership hahaha, im in student council and i figured that they will help with my application since they both organize activities and fundrasiers.
i just put in my course request a couple days ago and here it is
gr11:Phys12, Chem11, Math12, SnrBand12, Leadership 11, Eng11, French11, SS11, Jazz Band(off timetable)
gr12:Bio12, Chem12, AP Calc, Leadership 12, French 12, English 12, Weight Train12, Community Service12, Jazz
im going for phys11 during summerschool this summer

ok does anybody got any suggestions for changes?

and yeah there's alotta BC ppl here hahaha nicceeeee

^ That looks pretty good to me. Take any honours classes your school offer too.
