I want to follow pre-med track w/ a major in biology or chemistry. I was accepted in Harvard, Stanford, and Princeton. However, I'm having trouble choosing.

Here are some of the issues I have with each of these schools

1) Princeton- its grade deflation policy worries me, since I will definitely be applying to medical school that a policy that only 35% of the kids in a class can get A's will lower my gpa and hurt my chances of getting into prestigous medical schools

2) Harvard-seems to have reputation that professors care more about the grads than the undergrads, in addition alot of classes are taught by TA's (although Harvard refers to them as TF's- Teaching Fellows")

3) Stanford- doesn't seem to carry the same weight as Harvard and Princeton, from a prestige perspective although it is definitely up there w/ them, i fear that my fear concerning undergrad and grad preferance by professors concerning harvard is true at Stanford as well

My question here is which would be my best bet for my choice of majors and career path? In addition which would give me the best undergrad experience.

Only you can answer your question. Anonymous posters on this board will not tell you where you'll be most happy.

Don't worry about the grad/undergrad/grade deflation "problems". It seems like you're getting lost in the forest, looking at the trees. All three of these schools will give you a fantastic education - you won't go wrong with any.

Take a step back and look at environment, social setting, cost, etc.

Where do you live currently? Have you visited all three?

Since you ask, I'll give my uninformed opinion.

Stanford is a wonderful place, not snobby at all. It's in California which is great. It's living the good life. Prestige is almost at Harvard/Princeton level and rising every year, I wouldn't even have that be a slight concern.

Harvard is Harvard, there's only one Harvard, and it's in a great location with so many great schools nearby.

I'd choose between those two, unless there is something special about Princeton that is drawing you there.

There's no wrong answer so just go with your gut instinct.

If you don't mind us asking...where did you decide, and how did you arrive at that decision? I'm definately with everyone saying that it's a personal choice about the environment you would most like to be in. I'm a huge stanford fan, but for pre-med I think all things but environment are going to be equal harvard/stanford. Sun or snow, boston accross the river or SF up the penninsula, east or west...Harvard is closer to you, I think, & there's both advantages and disadvantages on both sides for the proximity deal.

Congrats m8 I'm sure you'll choose well.

wow. i'd luv to have ur problem
