okay, sorry.
i had a bad
day today.

Miss Porter's School (also known simply as "Farmington"), is by far the best known, and most prestigious, girls school in the country.

... perhaps rivaled by emma willard.

no..........

Thanks guys =]

Nice hearing from you again. hint. HINTTT

Where you re-visiting Farmington yesterday?

yeah i was!

I want to chime in here too. The benefits of an all-girls school are tremendous. It is not for everyone, but it really is for more girls than you think! Give it a chance.

Also, I had to laugh when I saw so many posts about Blair being better known than Porter's. Miss POrter's had a long history as a top school and is better known by people of a certain generation than Blair. While Blair is a top and wonderful school right now, during the 60's-80's period, and even in the early 90's, it was more of a second chance school and was not well-known nor known to be a school on par with Porter's. People who are up to date on boarding schools, like people on this board, might know Blair better, but to the general world population, I think Miss Porter's would get the nod as better known.

But I suppose that really isn't relative to you, since the decision should be based on which one is right for you and the opinion of other's doesn't matter much. They are both great schools--you can't go wrong. Good luck!

You took my username!! lol

In terms of reputation, my own point-of-view is that Blair is a second-choice co-ed school while MPS is a first choice single-sex school. My d chose MPS over Choate and Hotchkiss because of the warm atmosphere at MPS, the lack of hazing of freshman girls, the focus on learning instead of on competition hopefully means that there will be more opportunities for leadership roles, and because almost all of the alumni reviews are wildly positive. Choose MPS!

The acceptance rate of both schools is similar. To me, that signifies that MPS is not a "first choice school" and Blair a "second choice school."
