Its almost half way through april and i need a dicision by may 1. Im looking to go into either biomedical engineering or computer engineering and my top 2 college choices are University of Iowa and Madison Wisconsin. I also have Purdue, which i believe may have too rigerous of a program, and Marquette, which is much smaller, in the my decision as well. I am very interested in playing lacrosse at my college of choice, and i care to have free time to train and have fun. I know engineering is a tuff time comitment but im up for the challenge. Im just wondering for peoples opinions on each off these colleges programs and how they fit in with campus life and my life style. I need to make a decision fast and would really appreciate comments. Thanks!

I’m a Marquette Eng. '83 alum. I can tell you Marquette has an excellent Bio program (with great coop oprtunities). My son was accepted last year to Marquette and UW-Madison (his first choice) for electrical engineering. Once we visited both schools he decided on Marquette. The factors UW-Madison felt too huge and you are not into the engineering program from the start so it will most likely take 5 yrs. to complete and 90-95% chance of getting in the program (not 100%). I understand this is the case at most State Univ. I know UW very well as my cousin attended while I was at Marquette. I think either would be a great choice. Good Luck!

Thanks! If you have any facts about UW or Marquette and why you might take Marquette over UW, i would gladly apprectiate them.

The facts I can give you are the ones I gave you before. I think it would be a matter of fit really. Marquette does have a better Bio program (or at least ranking) as it was one of the first in US, medium/small (8,000 undergrad / 3,000 grad), urban campus (Milwaukee a nice city at least for me, with pro sports). UW-Madison more name recognition outside midwest, huge university (48,000 + students). Might take you 5 years to complete your major (if you are OOS this could make a big difference in tuition costs). Like I said before either would be a good choice. If you can afford visit both schools (they are within driving distance).
