I found this question inside a photocopy booked but I’m sure that its from the BB, so here it is:

It is ironic that the ---- insights of the great thinkers are voiced so often that they have become mere -----.
A - original … cliches
B - banal … belief
C - dubious … habits
D - philosophical … questions
E - abstract … assessments

Since many disadvantaged individuals view their situations as ----- , as well as intolerable, their attitudes can best be described as -----.
A - squalid … obscure
B - unpleasant … bellicose
C - acute … sanguine
D - inalterable … resigned
E - political … perplexed

The answer for the first one is A but D seem more reasonable, why would original insights could later become cliches? It doesn’t make any sense too me ><

The answer for the second one is D but when I search for “inalterable” no proper definitions appeared. Strange?

Please do answer !!!
