Need help cutting down my list and finding one more safety...

This is my list:

University of Pennsylvania- BIG Reach
Swarthmore College- BIG Reach
Oberlin College- BIG Reach
Haverford College- Reach
Morehouse College- Reach
Penn State U Uni. Park- Match/ Reach
Howard University- Match
University of Maryland- College Park- Match
American University- Match
St Lawrence University- Safety
Temple University- Safety

I was also thinking of applying to the UNC's. I KNOW that chapel hill is a HUGE REACH, but I just wanted to get opinions on the positives and negatives of the others, like Charlotte and Pembroke. Are they good? Or simply safety schools with minimal educational value?

So what really needs to be here, and what doesn't? If you recommend schools to be added, make sure they're similar to the ones listed above, and reasonably close to Philadelphia. Travel is an issue with my parents.

These are the ones I motion to keep:

Swarthmore College
Haverford College
Morehouse College
Oberlin College
St Lawrence University
University of Maryland- College Park
American University
Penn State U

What do you want to study? St Lawrence and Oberlin are quite a ways from Philadelphia. What are your SAT scores? George Washington U in DC comes to mind. U of Pittsburg. Pennsylvania is full of great LACs. I don't see a pattern in your selections. Oberlin and Penn State are so different!! What are you looking for? Swarthmore and Haverford are very hard to get into.

Try University of Rochester, Richmond, UConn.. what do you want to study though?

You've picked a number of great but very selective LACs, do you want to go to a small LAC? If so, there are other good ones in the area you're in that aren't as hard as Oberlin, Swarthmore or Haverford to get into. Trinity College, Kenyon, Davidson, Moravian, Bard, etc might be options but again it depends what you're into.

UNCW and UNCG aren't bad. But they're not first tier schools (ex. they're not in the top 120 according to USNews)
