Need help deciding classes for senior year

Hi, I’m looking to apply to architecture or engineering (arch being my preference) at CPSLO, UCSB, UCSD, UCI, SJSU, or CPP. We’ve gotten our senior schedule request sheets already and I’m split on what to do.

My campus offers a non UC/CSU accredited (is this the right term?) computer aided drafting course and after touring the classroom, I feel like it could help me decide if architecture is for me. Since I’m planning on taking a summer architecture program at UCLA, they offered my CAD 4 if my skills were up to par (CAD 4 is kind of a studio class; you have an assignment and you work on it for several weeks).

The problem is, my schedule is filled and I’m not sure if I should drop a class for CAD 4. My friend who was also offered this decision said colleges will like it if you take a class pertaining to the major. I’m a bit iffy on taking this class being it not being A-G. My planned senior year schedule:

  • ERWC (our school doesn't offer English 4 for whatever reason)
  • AP Physics 2
  • Advanced Science (the "physics C" course of our school. Not AP because there's not exactly a teacher teaching. It's more of a "self study for the physics C exam" class)
  • AP Calc BC
  • AP Micro/AP Gov
  • French 3

I’m thinking about dropping French 3 if I take CAD 4, but I feel like it’ll significantly lower my chances at UC’s and SLO. The other choice is to drop Advanced Science because it’s pretty much a free period to self study (though, according to counselors, I can tell colleges it’s a rigorous course, which it is according to my peers).

So, I guess my question is: should I drop any of these classes for CAD 4?

Freshman:

  • English 1A B+/A
  • Algebra 2 A/A
  • Physics A/A
  • Viet 1 A-/A
  • Art 1 A/A

Sophomore:

  • English 2 A-/A
  • Math Analysis A-/A-
  • Chemistry B+/A
  • AP World History B/B
  • French 1 A/A-
  • (CC summer course) Intro to Biology C

Junior:

  • English 3 A-/
  • US History A/
  • AP Physics 1 A/
  • Web Design B/
  • French 2 A/
  • AP Calc AB A-/

You want 3 years of a language especially for the UC’s, so do not drop French 3. I would drop the Adv Science since you already have AP Physics 2 on your list. Also your GC will tell the colleges that you have a rigorous course schedule in their school report.
