Need help deciding major!

Hello everyone and thanks for reading this.

I am currently a freshman in college right now and it is about the time that I start focusing my courses into what I want to major in. The problem is I have it narrowed down to two choices and can't make a solid decision.

The first option is to major in management & human resources with an emphasis on management.

The second option is to major in industrial engineering and pick up a business certificate along the way.

I have been trying to figure out the pros and cons of each of the choices but I can't seem to grasp enough information to make a decision that I would be happy with.

So I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight to help me make this decision. I would be happy to recieve any bit of information that anyone has to offer.

I am mainly wondering if majoring in management & human resources would be a good idea to help secure a job. I would hate to graduate college with a degree that would cause difficulty to get a job.

Thanks!

This one is tough since there’s no capitalization of improper nouns. If you can handle the math and the boring-ness, you should pick engineering, no-brainer. Keep in mind business is also very boring.

I actually read the other thread so I made sure to keep them both lowercase to maintain neutrality =P But thanks for your advice.

Well, which one would you have capitalized?

Another giveaway would have been if you used the word quantitative. You really aren’t showing your hand on this one.

Well I honestly would have capitalized both of them and I would not have used the word quantitative to describe either. I have been looking around at other forums and it looks as if people are suggesting that engineering is the way to go because it gives you more options and makes you look more qualified for a series of jobs. Input?

Human resources seems very different from industrial engineering. Perhaps you could try researching the careers in each and deciding which one sounds more like it would fit your personality.
