Most safety schools give little need-based aid.

Are you a junior? Are you going to retest? Take both the SAT and ACT. To have the best chances at the schools that give the best merit/need-based aid, you’re going to need higher test scores.

If you bring up your English section on the ACT, your composite will improve.

For safeties/matches for Poly Sci…look at schools that have highish ranking law schools…those tend to also have strong Poly Sci depts.

It looks like you’re instate for Illinois. If so, do NOT bother with UMich. You wont’ get the aid and you don’t have the stats for merit there.

It sounds like you may be a 0 EFC student. Are you?

Yes i’m both a Junior and a 0 EFC.

I plan on taking the ACT twice (once for IL PSAE one national)

I plan on taking the June SAT (is there one after that in time for admissions?)

what do i need on the ACT to make a difference? 30-32?

There are ACT tests in Sept and October which are fine for admissions.

There are SAT tests in Oct and Nov which are find for admissions.

Some schools will take later tests as well.

To have the best chances for admittance at schools that give the best need-based aid or big merit scholarships, it’s best to shoot for at least an ACT 32 or 1400+ M+CR SAT. For many schools, that can be a tipping point for best merit and/or admittance into schools with great need-based aid.

At UAH, ACT of 34 is the threshold for a full ride, as opposed to full tuition at ACT of 31.
