Hi I need advice on choosing a university I plan to major in mangement or any field relating to business. The colleges that have intrested me are Babson, Bentley and Boston college. I have finished the IB diploma program with a overall score of 31 and have loads of EC's such as MUN, Sports team(Rugby and Basketball for High school) and Toastmasters. I also have work experience. I will be doing an internship for a year and apply to university for 2008 entry. What kind of SAT score should I be looking at and is it possible to get into the colleges I mentioned above.

What kind of GPA do you have? BU is decent for business I think. You should have a shot at the schools you listed if you're an overall solid student, which it seems you are.

GPA, hmmm i acutally dont have any idea becoz I am international student and we dont go do GPA's method in my school so I am bit confused on that part to be honest. Also I m really confused on what to do the ACT or SAT as I have no idea which one my university would prefer. And what kind of score should in ACT should I be looking at in order to gain place in the above mentioned universities plus in BU. Btw I have obtained four different kinds of refrences from four different teachers and also have a essay ready in hand. Now I need to start my SAT or ACT and am a bit confused on which one to choose.

Well, the colleges you listed tend to favor the SAT, but they won't disqualify you for taking the ACT. If you're taking the SAT though, you also should take at least 2 SAT II's (subject specific tests like Math, Bio, etc). You might want to ask your guidance counselor to calculate your GPA for you because colleges look at that very hard, and have you taken the TOEFL yet?

The colleges you mentioned prefer the SATs, but the ACT would not give you a problem at these schools. Boston College has the highest standards of the three so I will give you their statistics: middle 50% SAT=1910- 2110
middle 50% of ACT=28-32. If you get a 2100 SAT or 30 or higher ACT, you would give yourself a very good shot at Boston College. You will almost surely get into the other two schools with these scores. If you are open to suggestions, I would suggest you look at Villanova University and also look at BusinessWeek's undergraduate business school rankings.

Thanks for the reply buddy. I am just going through the BusinessWeek rankings. Villanova seems like a good university. Any idea the kind of SAT score required for admission to Villanova's business school.

What scores would universities such as Northeastern or University of Washington be looking for in order to gain competitiveness in the admission process as SAT or ACT tests are not required from International students. Thanks again

I don't think Villanova is very suitable for an international student like you and I'm actually a current student at Bentley and I believe they accept a lot of internation students. Babson would be a little harder to get into, but just a tad. Bentley is wonderful for accounting and fincance.

northeastern and u. Wash are not that competitive, so whatever should be fine. All my friends who applied last year used NU as a safety. also, you can find all that info on collegeboard.com with college search :)
