Need help figuring out my list of schools...High test scores, mediocre community service

Tufts (meets full need) and Brandeis (some merit) are two schools with strong philosophy programs that don’t appear in the traditional rankings because they do not grant Phd degrees (only Masters degrees). They also seem to fit your profile better than some of the programs you have listed.

Among terminal MA programs, the top program in the country (in terms of faculty quality) is Tufts University. After Tufts, several other terminal MA programs have very strong faculties: Brandeis University, Georgia State University, Northern Illinois University, and University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Other terminal M.A. programs with strong faculties include University of Houston; San Francisco State University; and Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Other M.A. programs also worth considering for students with the right interests would include California State University, Los Angeles; Colorado State University (esp. for applied ethics); Ohio University; Texas Tech University; University of Missouri, St. Louis, and Western Michigan University.
