Hi,
I am from Montreal, Canada and would like to go study in the states, more specifically in New York City. My top colleges are either Baruch or Hunter College, both from CUNY.
Is there any scholarships, fincancial aid or grants I could get as an international student from Canada??
My major would be around business, international business or communications.

CUNY schools offer virtually no financial aid to international students. This is generally true of the vast majority of public universities.

Many publics and privates don’t give aid or scholarships to int’ls.

However, some do.

We need more info…

1) What is your GPA and test scores.

2) how much will your parents pay?

3) Why are you limiting to NY schools…that makes it less likely to get what you want.

My GPA is 3 and I haven’t taken the SAT’s yet, I take it on october. Why just in NY, thats because I want to be in NYC.

Are you saying that your GPA is a 3.0?

Typically, students need a 3.5 or higher and a high SAT or ACT for merit scholarships…especially for an int’l.

Since you want NYC CUNY schools, you’ll have to go to their websites and see if they give merit to int’ls and see what stats are needed.

How much will your parents pay?

according to post #2, the CUNY schools offer “virtually no aid” to international students.

OP…you need to understand that there are only 6 or so schools (for international students) in the U.S. that are both need blind for admissions (meaning they do NOT look at your finances when considering your admission application…AND meet full need for all admiitted students.

I don’t think ANY schools in NYC fit this.

UPenn is in Philadelphia, which is 2 hours away from NYC. They’re need blind and full need for Canadians, but IDK if it’s realistic for you to look at that school.
