need help finding a college!

okay, so i'm an ex pratt student, looking for a new school to attend.
i live in ct, and am kind of looking to get out of the northeast. though i love it here, and it's seasons, i'm just thinking that i want to live in a warmer climate.
i'd like to find a few good candidates around here but kind of want a new scene. i like the laid back character i find in a lot of people here so i'd like to keep that in mind for my move. basically i just need help picking state/ city that fits my needs and has a school with what i have in mind.
here are my guidelines:
*nice weather; not too long/harsh winter, not humid, not rainy all the time, pretty mild
*medium sized city; perhaps a bigger city like san fran, but maybe not too big, artsy, eco-friendly, things to do (music/coffee house/bars), young people
*possibly some public transportation
*college not too far, or at least easy transportation to

states in consideration: CA,OR,NC,MD,AZ,WA,MA,NY (safety),RI,

school guidelines:
*looking to major in some kind of art field, photography, film, design, (i want to be a set designer or production designer)
*possibly apply to some art schools, but not necessarily looking to be in a exclusively art school (pretentious competitive art students can really get to me)
*nothing extremely hard or requiring a lot of specific courses (no math or language requirement would be nice)
* anywhere between 2,000-20,000 students
*not extremely strict or religious
*wanting like minded students, who are free spirited

i had about a 3.0 in high school, 1650 on sats, some honors courses, decent amount of extracurriculars, overall okay student

thinking about applying for spring 2009, though finding some dont have spring admission so maybe applying to the ones that dont for fall
HELP ME SOON PLEASE!!!!!! DESPERATE.

usc might be a slight reach or reach for you, but they've got great film programs.
NYU is supposed to have a good film program as well.

hmm. UCs could be an option for you. UC Santa Barbara fits the location of where you want to live as well as UC Santa Cruz. They are both near beaches. UCs seem to fit the academic description as well. I'm not sure aobut each universities academic programs but you can look into them yourself. they do require 3 years of math and at least 2 years of language though =/ I think you'll find it hard to find a school that doesn't require language classes. Good luck on your search though!

Syracuse might be good.

Ok...maybe this doesn't fit into your warm weather requirement, but other than that it could be a really good fit....SUNY New Paltz. It's got the great art/theater programs with a very free spirited student body in a funky and artsy town with the whole coffee house/bars/music thing going on. Only about 1 hour away from NYC. Worth a look.

ive thought about the uc's and will most likely apply. just thinking a little bit smaller than a university. new paltz im also considering, though am trying to get out of the cold.

KEEP SUGGESTIONS COMING!

The UCs have a minimum 3.4 GPA for OOS applicants. http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html There is an eligibility calculator at that link you can use to see if you are eligible to apply.

If you like a warm climate you might want to consider TX =)

: CA,OR,NC,MD,AZ,WA,MA,NY (safety),RI,

out of the states you're thinking of...arizona or california would fit. they have mild winters and are not humid. oregon and washington are mild but you said you dont want a lot of rain. north carolina has mild winters but is humid and you said you dont want humid. maryland is pretty mild (4 seasons that are actually divided equally, unlike new england where winter is by far the longest). the only part you might not like about maryland is the humidity in the summer. it gets just as hot as north carolina, but doesnt last as long. and the coast is cooler in the summer. new york and rhode island are basically the same as where you are right now, so you should know what thats like

Chapman in Orange county CA. Good film school. Less selective than USC. Visited with D. Nice place. I think fin aid is decent.
