Need help finding east coast college! criteria & stats given

Rutgers doesn’t have much of a campus feel. U Pitt I think would be great - the city is awesome but there’s still a campus feel. I was also thinking Syracuse, but I don’t know much about the city. But do know several sophomores there who love it. Good luck!

If you are looking for the UMich/UWisc experience, you may want to add Ohio State. You said that cost wasn’t an issue, but you may get a National Buckeye. With that tOSU would be ~$20k less than UW and ~$30k than UM. That price difference can pay for a MS.

The City of Syracuse is somewhat rundown & a bit depressing. Wisconsin & Michigan are much better options unless Syracuse has a particular specialized course of study that you want to enroll in.

Thank you all for these responses!

@Publisher Why do you think Oregon would not be a fit for me? Just trying to see if I am missing something. Appreciate all the suggestions

I’d add Northwestern unless it was already mentioned. It’s going to be tough to find a school like UM in the northeast, if you want a game day (more like game weekend) kind of atmosphere, start festivities on Fri evening, game, tailgate, post-game party takes up all day Sat, use Sunday to catch up on work! I’m not saying this is totally unique to UM given the schools you applied to, most pac-12 schools are similar, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA. Maybe Cornell, though it’s not really a football school, alumni are quick to point out their greatness in hockey. And Ann Arbor and Ithaca, are a little different wrt to the feel of the campus. Good luck!

For the liberal you might like “Groovy UVY” but I don’t think Burlington is the major city type you are looking for and they don’t really have the big football thing going on. For some reason I get the impression you might be a U of Delaware type and with your ACT score I think you’d get good merit money (not that you care). I think you’d like the social life at Syracuse but it’s an awful city with awful weather but many don’t mind it. Good luck!

@kkendal: In fairness to you, it is your designated safety school. To be blunt, I think that you have earned & deserve a more challenging environment.

If you get a substantial scholarship & if there is a particular area of study or well developed honors program / college & if you love the town, then it may be worth considering.

The more that I think about Oregon, the more I realize that it is a wise choice for you as a safety. The area is beautiful & offers a great quality of life.

@Publisher Yes thank you for that information. I agree completely that I have earned & deserve a more challenging environment for my undergraduate studies. I have visited the university and I actually really liked t. However I am definitely setting my sights on a more challenging institution just to make all the work I’ve done in high school worth it. Oregon is really nothing but a safety in case things just don’t go as planned.

Pitt’s location across from an off campus park, may combine all you want.

University of Vermont hits many boxes, but no football.

IMHO, Syracuse feels more urban than Pitt.

Thank you to everyone for all of the feedback!
