Need help finding schools!

Hi!
I am looking for:
a small school
small class sizes
"big" school opportunities even though it is smaller
good school spirit
good academics
preferably somewhere warm(from WI and need to get out of here;))
I like the idea of a community feel in the campus - from my experience in touring the campuses, a smaller city is nicer to me...

Wake Forest is really the type of a school I am looking. RIght now it is number one on my list but I am trying to find some more that are a lot like WF.

Please keep in mind my "stats" when posting ideas, I would like to probably be in the middle to lower range of students, (I feel I work harder when I have somewhere to reach)

My unweighted GPA is araound a 3.8 with weighted being a 4.3.
My freshmen and sophomore years I had all A's and B's with no B-'s. junior year I had straight A's. each year my schedule became harder with more honor/AP classes with my grades rising at the same time.

the honors /AP classes I have taken/took are: H English 9/argumentation, H Geometry, H sophomore English, H Chemistry, H Algebra 2/trig, H World studies, H Junior English, H latin 4, H physics, H precalc-calc, AP Physics, AP Stats, AP Calculus BC, AP microeconomics (really enjoying micro so I will see if I can switch inti AP macro next semester)

ACT: First Try: 27
Scond Try: 28
Hoping to take it one more time and get a 29-30

EC's :
NHS, varsity dance team (co-captain), studio dance, subdy achool, yearbook, school newspaper (editor), assistant coach of the middle school dance team, was on fundraiser committee for school, lots of volunteer work including tutoring at my Hebrew school, tutoring in general, helping out the school office...

Thanks for any ideas/help!!!

Also, it’s still neat a bigger town like WF is near Greensboro…

What can your family afford?

Rhodes is a match on stats, small student body, classes average 12-13 students, crazy work and service opportunities due to location and curriculum requirements. Great academics. If by school spirit you mean rah-rah athletics, then it’s probably a miss there. If you mean a lot of pride in going to teh school, then it’s a hit. If by smaller city you mean something smaller than NY/Chicago/LA, then it’s a hit. If by smaller city you mean something less than, say, 750k, then it’s a miss there as well.

Thanks! I will defiantly look into Rhodes!

Maybe look into William & Mary in Virginia. Occidental in California, although I’m unsure of the enrollment, I feel like it’s fairly small.

Do you know what you might want to major in? Also, does the college need to have a Dance program?

Ceilidh8- I’m actually Applying to occidental:)
Bobbyct- right now I am planning to go into college as indecided, but I will most likely go into engineering, economics, or education…

Oh and no dance program needed… But it wouldn’t hurt ;)

OP, as Erin’s Dad asked what can your family afford?

Your basic information and stats match almost exactly with a mother posting for her daughter on this forum. If you are the daughter and I remember correctly your family has a fairly high EFC and not a lot of funds to pay for it.

If the above is true then you really need to look for schools that will have merit aid for your stats. People on CC are knowledgable and can be a great resource but ti’s best to give all the information you can to get the best responses for your situation.

These may not have all of what you are looking for but Elon (NC), UNC Asheville, Furman (SC) and College of Charleston (SC) might be worth a look. Best of luck!

I agree with Rhodes as a fit for what you’re looking for. It’s sort of in the big city though, so I don’t know if you care for that.

U. Richmond

Bump…

I’ll bump my question: What can you afford?

Try Davidson, Miami University, Tulane, and Bucknell

Davidson
Wake
William & Mary
Duke
Washington and Lee

BC and ND might also be what you are looking for, but it does snow a little in the winter there.

SMU and Rice

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using CC App

Texas? really?

^ Did I miss something? Texas what?
