A few others: Hamilton, Hobart & Wm. Smith, St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

St. Mary’s MD is a public “honors college” with a beautiful waterfront campus and an archaeological dig within walking distance (historic St. Mary’s City). Should be a safe admit for your D’s stats. On the edge (or slightly over) your 3-hour limit (~90 minute drive south of Baltimore in good traffic). Rural. Small classes. ~$35K for OOS before aid (~$10K-15K cheaper than Loyola, Haverford before aid), but I don’t know what the OOS aid prospects are like. Apparently, no big Greek scene. More economically diverse but less geographically diverse than most of the others. Sailing is the big sport. Life sciences and psychology seem to be strong there.

At many of the small rural colleges, you may encounter a lot of drinking especially perhaps if frats are big. Boredom can play into this. A studious or very outdoorsy atmosphere may mitigate against it. Lots of nerdy Asian kids are a wholesome sign too, but those kids tend not to be so attracted to many of these schools. A substance-free dorm (ask about them) may be an adequate firewall if fraternities and sororities do not dominate social life.
