Need Help! FIT vs FIDM ?

I’m having a lot of trouble deciding between these two schools.

i’m 24 years old. From Los Angeles and currently living in ny. I’ve been living in ny for five years. I could either move back home to la or stay in ny. I want to study business and fashion design (specifically swimwear & intimate apparel)

Because I’m 24, (and a freshman) I like that FIDM’s program is two years for AA and you dive straight into studying spec what you want to do. Where as FIT i will be doing gen ed’s and basic sewing and draping classes for the first two years! and then i will need another two years for a BA in order to study business and swimwear. I’m really not sure which is more beneficial and really how the colleges compare. I’m mostly afraid that I won’t like FIT. its definitely not as nice as FIDM and i’m someone who does a lot better in a more inspiring setting. I know it sounds dumb, but i have a hard time concentrating so if i don’t like the teachers/campus/rooms, then i definitely lose interest and start falling behind in classes. On the other hand i’ve seen a lot of success stories from FIDM as well as a lot of complaints.

Can anyone offer me any advice? those who are in the same boat or have attending either school? Thank you!!

My niece went to FIDM…total waste of money. The real univs won’t accept any of the credits, so she has to start over to get a bachelors.

I currently attend FIDM and studying in the Bachelor’s program in Design and received my AA in Visual Communications! If you definitely want to dive into the industry and have a ton of opportunities towards the major you want I would recommend FIDM. What I love about FIDM is finishing within 2 years which is completely worth it and you have a choice to get your Bachelor’s degree as well. The classes at FIDM are very hands on, you get help from teachers that are in the industry and have so many connections for jobs towards your major. I have taken classes that gave me so much skills I never new I could even do thanks to FIDM, the supplies you get are also very worth it. Hope this helps!

that’s awful! did she finish her AA degree or try to transfer during studies?
