Need Help from GSP Students...

When you resistered for freshmen classes did you sign up for all your classes or did GSP pick your courses?
I have another question-
If you want to transfer out to another college, does it say this on your NYU transcript -Sch of Continuing & Profession ? and Degree: Associate in Arts?

GSP picks all of your classes first semester, except for one elective. there should have been a class registration sheet mailed to you that gave you the elective options.

As for the transfer, you're transcript would say SCPS, AA Degree.

Wouldn't it be looked upon negatively by other colleges? ( AA Degree )?

possibly, but it wouldn't destroy your chance automatically. though quite rare, there have been students from community colleges who transferred to ivy league schools (even harvard and yale) in the past years. I am sure NYU-SCPS gets a better recognition than CCs.

wow comparing nyu gsp to cc's

That's kinda depressing when you think about it. I hate that it may look like a cc

Yea , especially if you paid $36,000 for GSP. Why not just go to a cc for free?

When you've graduated and are looking for a job, I think employers are going to be more interested in who you are and what you can do for them than what name(s) you have on your diploma. I know that 5 years after graduation, no one cares anymore - they want to know about your work experience and your accomplishments, not how great your college's reputation was.

So in short, don't worry. :) Do well at school, get relevant job experience, make some contacts, and don't be a jerk. :D

I know it won't look AS good as say, CAS after only two years but honestly, I know a school would not judge NYU gsper the same as a local community college grad.

You guys are reaaaaaaally bitter.

GSP=NYU community college...... jk

In all honesty i think gsp is a good program for those into the humanities, although its quite strict with which classes you take. It was just made so Sexton could bring more $$ to the university. Most of those accepted (from my experience) were better off (financially; could afford NYU) than those accepted into CAS. Also i knew smarter CAS rejects than wealthy GSP acceptee's.

Im not bashing GSP here im just saying what I have observed.

hm.

You're bashing us!!!

Somday you'll see! You'll all see! -cry of a GSP kid. lol

Can GSP people double major? Or at least have a minor?

absolutely a minor. double major is often possible, especially if one of them is history or journalism. the history dept. counts 3 classes towards the major, journalism is an 8 course major you have to double major with.

D entered to GSP. Some of her were friends from GSP were accepted to CAS early. While she wasn't crazy about the course selection process, she did get a very good core education. She graduated in 4 years with double major in Journalism & Fine Art and minor in Irish Studies. Hired by publishing house where she interned. (BTW, at the in-person interview for ED, I do remember most students were from private schools.) I think if you want NYU even half as much as D did, you'll be happy. Work hard & and keep that bonus trip in mind!! Good luck to you all !!
