Hey guys..
I am international student (from India) applying to USA. I have received acceptances from the following colleges:

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - General

Texas A&M University - General

Penn State University - Computer Science

CalPoly San Luis Obispo - Computer Science

Florida Institute of Technology - Computer Engineering

I am getting confused on which college to choose. I also want to do a minor in Business area. Job prospects during and after the undergraduate course are important.
So, can anyone advice me on which college should be the best choice?

Hey !!
yes i do like to study Computer Science. The thing with UIUC is that they have put me into division of general studies and acc. to that i need to get a GPA of 3.8 to take a transfer to computer science. Isn’t that hard?

3.8’s totally gettable.
If you’ve been under an Indian (ISC or CBSE) curriculum in your high school, you would simply cruise through the freshman year at UIUC.

So, according to you guys I should opt for UIUC. Btw @compscifan I study in IB board so what do you…will I be able to get 3.8? How hard is it? Is it very hard??!

^How are you doing under the IB? How many HL subjects are you coping under? A bigger number of HL subjects means that you can handle pressure.

If not UIUC, then Penn State is the obvious option.
They have simply awesome recruiting. Go for the education, not for the name. Plus seeing the high position Penn State has in the eyes of different employers, you should have a good deal there too.

Dude just go to UIUC. I got into Carnegie Mellon and I’m still considering it because of the James Scholar Program that I got into. Any which way, just go to UIUC and you will certainly not regret it. Its an amazing school with even more amazing facilities and opportunities.

@perfectpixie: I have taken 3 HLs and 3SLs. HL - Maths, Physics, Computer Science
SL - Economics , Hindi, English . I think i am doing decent. I get 33/42 (average).
So do you think I can achieve 3.8?

@aniruddhc: Dude Hats OFF to you for achieving CMU. It was my dream uni but the dream just got shattered. :(. The thing with UIUC is mainly the GPA of 3.8 and after that another issue is that it si a bit expensive. $50,000 a year is a bit expensive for me.

@aniruddhc: Thanks for the motivation. Now, another issue with UIUC is that it is a bit expensive also. I Have to pay $50K annually. @comscifan: Thanks for the motivation!

I’d say go with UIUC.
With your grades, achieving a 3.8 GPA wont be all that hard. You’ve just got to work for the first few months only anyway.

@muanrin: Are you suggesting me to go to Penn state / FIT because they have awesome party scenes?? On what basis are you suggesting me?

@Epitomeofidiocy: I personally want to go to UIUC or CalPoly SLO but the factor concerning UIUC is the total amount that i ll have to pay … i ll have to pay $49,000 annually
