Science is soooooooo bugging me the most right now. I feel like I can do well in English, Math, and Reading but Science is a major problem. Like I can score in the 30s for the three other sections, but Science I score in the mid-20s(like 25 or possibly 24). I always run out of time on that section and I dont know how to attack the questions well. I get all jumbled up in the terminology. Is there anyone that can offer advice or strategy to do better?

Bumping this for you, I also am curious to know.

I am actually getting better at science gradually. I use to get like 23’s in science. now im managing a 26. A 26 is fine for me in the science section. I really suck at the science part, but what I do is just go straight to the questions. Usually the questions say accrding to table blah blah. so you really dont need to look at the reading part for those questions. Usually when it does not ask you to go back to a table or graph, that is when you have to look in the passage. look at key words and just skim the reading. you will find the answer. I usually finish right on time by doing this. Also, don’t lose focus. Losing focus is big factor why my me score goes lower. you have to really really focus and be positive. You will be fine.

^Agreed. The importance of not getting intimidated by big-ass scientific words cannot be stressed more. Just think of science as another reading section; all of the information needed to answer the questions can be found in the passages and graphs.

Ugh, I try the “just read the graphs” technique and still don’t finish in time.

yeah i dont finish on time either. I usually have 5 questions left. i just guess on those. science is just impossible “sigh”

^ Hahaa i feel ya

wait, is “all of the information needed to answer the questions can be found in the passages and graphs.” really true??

A great way for me (currently scoring a 33 on science) is to clarify all the graphs and questions by underlining. Circle all the “Study 1” etc. words so that you can look back more easily and it will be more clear. Same with the questions. underline what youre trying to find out. The ACT people will try to confuse you in the time constraint with big word and confusing sentences. I know that these sound like menial suggestions, but they really help!

I actually like the math and science portions compared to the english and reading portions.
