Need help knowing which tier of schools to shoot for given my stats

Okay so I'm a pretty good student overall, and I've recently started my college search (Class of '15) but don't know which kind of schools I will be able to get into.

My stats:

GPA: ~4.2 weighted, 3.9 unweighted (Haven't got an official calculation but I've only received a B for the 1st semester of a freshmen year class and a high be this year in AP Euro.)

SAT: 1970 (Will be taking again, confident in breaking 2050)

Classes:
-All honors freshman and sophomore year
- This year: AP Chem, AP Lang and Comp, AP Euro, remaining are honors courses
- Next year I plan on taking a bunch of AP and other challenging classes, so questionable rigor won't be an issue

EC's:
-4 year member of cross country team
-4 years Community Service Club (3 years as homeroom rep)
-4 year member of Ambassadors club
-2 years of DECA (school just started the club this year) - 4th place in solo category and advanced to state competition (yet to be completed)
-2 years of Reading Olympics (club also started this year)
-NHS - tutor, etc.
-Volunteer 1.5 hours/wk as a classroom assistant for my Parish's elementary faith formation classes
-Chosen to advance to county science fair last year, won 1st place in category and advanced to regional competition.
-Attended a week long business camp last summer
-Work part-time 15-20 hours/month

Other:
Parents - Married
Income: 100k-150k
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Religion: Roman Catholic

And what major would you me looking at? I can’t really seem to tell from your EC’s and courseload. PSAT scores could get you National Merit (considering you’re from Louisiana…) Also, how much do you know your parents will agree to pay per year?

Your SAT scores are probably going to keep you out of top tier schools. And your ECs are fine, but again – not top tier, they are pretty mainstream and you haven’t excelled beyond your region.

What do you want to study? Do you have any idea what size school you want? Do you have a location preference? How much will your parents pay? Do you have siblings that will be in college at the same time you will? Have you visited any schools yet and if so, what did you like?

You might want to get a copy of the Fiske Guide to Colleges and go through it to identify possible schools. If you don’t want to buy one, ask you school guidance counselor or check your library. It is okay if it is a couple years old – new ones come out every year, but the info doesn’t change a lot.
