OK so I would really appreciate some help in trimming down my S college list. He has quite a few on his list and I would rather not pay all the application fees if possible. He is looking for a great engineering/business program.

His stats are as follows:
SAT I (breakdown): Did not take
ACT: 34
SAT II: Scores not in yet
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 2 out of 410
AP (place score in parenthesis): 5 in Cal, 4 in Physics, 4 in US History, 4 in World History, 3 in English III
Senior Year Course Load: AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Eco, AP Govt, AP Eng IV, AP Chem, AP Biology, and Golf
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): NHS for 3 years (President), Mu Alpha Theta (Pres and founder), Golf 4 years (co-captain and 2 time District champs), UIL Math/Number Sense 11 years (2nd in state once), Masterminds 3 years (Captain), NASA Inspire Program (participant), Media Tech helping with sound at our church, Cross-Country Freshman and Sophomore year.

Job/Work Experience: Summer after sophomor year worked at Boys and Girls Club with 10 year old kids. Last summer ran a health clinic for local home health that focused on vaccinating kids for low income families.

Volunteer/Community service: Too many to list
Summer Activities: Church volunteer/camp and work
Essays: I read first one on the common app and it is excellent. Haven't read any others.
Teacher Recommendation: I would think they are excellent. Teachers he asked like him a lot. Same teachers that older son asked last year and he ended up at Stanford.

Counselor Rec: She loves him and is same counselor that S1 had.
Additional Rec:
Interview: Interviewed with MIT and interviewer said it went really well.

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: Engineering/Business
State (if domestic applicant): Texas
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: $95K - $105K
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM

Here is the list of schools he is wanting to apply to in order of preference:

Harvard
Stanford
MIT
Penn

Princeton
Columbia
Yale
Dartmouth
Northwestern
Rice
Cornell
NYU
Carnegie Mellon
Univ. of North Carolina
Duke
Notre Dame
Wash. Univ. of St. Louis
Univ of Texas
A & M
Univ of Alabama

I know the first 7 or 8 are reaches for everyone but he will not be taking the first four off of his list. His older brother is at Stanford studying CS. I would like the list cut down to 12-14 schools. Any help would be appreciated as the app fees can really add up. Thanks.
