Hi, so I just got off of the waitlist at NYU for CAS Econ. NYU and I was super pumped when I finally got in. The only thing that’s stopping me from committing is that they did not offer nearly enough financial aid. I guess I just want to know if the connections and NYU name/brand is worth the 130k difference over four years between NYU and Rutgers. About half of that amount would probably need loans. I’m not sure exactly what I would want to do but probably something on wall street.
I give that a hard no. Rutgers is a great school.
I second Rutgers.
NYU is notorious for lousy FA.
Go to Rutgers.
$65,000 in loans is a lot. This is not quite enough to be catastrophic, but will be a huge constraint on your life after graduation.
Rutgers is a great school. I have studied (in graduate school) and worked with a bunch of graduates from there. They have given it a great name by what they did on the job and in graduate school. They also have been quite successful.
I agree with others. Stick with Rutgers.
I agree with the advice. It doesn’t look like you can afford NYU. Reach schools are like that. Rutgers is a great school and you’ll do great!
Rutgers. Kick NYU to the curb, and don’t look back.
Another vote for Rutgers.
Rutgers!
NYU is known for not giving good aid.

It is also hard to compare starting salaries, but Rutgers for Econ says starting salary is
$50K + 9K (average additional salary)

NYU: College of Arts and Science $59,427 mean salary

Rutgers! I’m starting at the Newark campus in the fall, as a CC transfer. Their financial aid is great (at least for low-income students) and it’s an amazing school.
RUUUU
I am a proud RU alumni
