Need help on every section!

Can someone please help me? I really am a horrible test taker, but I really want an ACT score around 27-30. I know this may seem impossible seeing that I currently have an ACT composite of 22(22 English, 23 math, 17 reading, and 22 science, 6 writing) I really need help on every section. I would greatly appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

When are you taking it? You are asking 5-8 points jump and that requires time to study and practice for the ACT.

@realchk - please don’t discourage anyone. Thanks.

@Raheiym - Yes, it is possible, don’t ever think anything is impossible. Have the belief and determination that you can, no rather, you WILL make a 30 on the ACT and you definitely will. But you must practice. Getting the ACT Prep book and other prep books like the Princeton Review or Barron’s really helps. Try going to your library if you’re low on the financial side, I’m sure they’ll have prep books because my library did. Always make good use of your resources.

For English, go over all the basic grammar rules. There are 2 parts: Usage/Mechanics - tests grammar, punctuation, etc. and Rhetorical Skills - seeing where a word goes, comprehension, etc. There are 5 passages, 75 questions in total, and you have 45 min. to do them. Don’t be overwhelmed, English is actually one of the easier tests even though it has the most questions of all the tests.

For Math, memorize formulas and do practice problems, try doing them in less than 1 min. There are 60 questions and you must do them in 60 min., but since the easier questions tend to come at the beginning and the harder ones at the end, you should aim to complete the first 20 within 10 min. so you’ll have extra time for the more challenging questions.

For Reading, learn to read the passages fast, ideally under 4 min. and then answer the questions in 4 min. There are 4 passages, 10 questions each for a total of 40 questions, and you have 35 min., so if you do each passage in 8 min., you would have 3 min. left, just in case.

For Science, skim the passages and go to the questions. There are passages where they ask the scientists’ viewpoints, for those you must read the passages to answer the questions. There are 7 passages, and 40 questions in total, which you must do in 35 min. Time is of the essence.

I know this is all seems easier said than done, but hey, if I could do it, then you can too! Feel free to ask me any more questions. :)

@elitepwnage thank you so much. I really appreciate your help and I definitely will implement those tactics.

I need somebody help, not just anybody help.
You know I someone help!!!

@elitepwnage, I don’t think I am discouraging Raheiym or anyone in any way. Actually, you and I are talking about the same thing, practice, practice and more practice. If Raheiym is taking the test this Saturday, unfortunately 5 point increase is probably not likely to happen. That’s why I asked when he/she is taking the exam before I go into details. But since you have given details in preparation, it won’t be necessary for me to elaborate.

@raheiym, good luck on your ACT. Browse through CC you will find many helpful tips :)

@Raheiym - no problem!

@realchk - ok, but as unlikely as anything may happen, you should try to encourage others as much as possible. :)

Good luck guys!
