I am a senior in Michigan. I have narrowed my choices to University of Michigan and SUNY at Buffalo. One would think that why not go to Michigan is this even a question? However, money is a big incentive. I have been awarded Provost Scholarship at UB, worth 11,000 per year as an OOS for new york. My total cost at UB then would be 7500$ versus at Michigan about 18-20G a year. And with two other brothers in college at the same time, that's a lot of strain on my parents. Also, the bad economy doesn't help either.

Also, aside from financial incentives, I was asking for CC's advice on is it better to go to a college and not know what to expect or go to a college where you know you will do well. I feel at Michigan no doubt I'll have to work my @$$ off like everyone else but sometimes even doing that won't cut it. The other option is to go to a school like SUNY Buffalo and probably excel, still work hard, but no doubt it will be less of a strenuous life than at Michigan.

So intelligent CC members, I need your advice!

Personally, I am leaning towards Michigan because it is one of the top public universities in the world and a Michigan degree with even an alright gpa can still take you places. On the other hand my parents say that for the next few years they have the money to send me there and with the stimulus bill taking effect there should be some stabilization in the economy for the next few years.

Ahhh I can't make up my mind
