I am also really confused about all this housing too. UGA students, help me out please! I plan on getting into the Honors Program after 1st semester, so I put Myers as my first choice. I applied WAY back in December, so hopefully I'll be one of the few freshmen not in Honors yet to be in Myers. Is there a chance of that? How many students not in Honors actually live in Myers? Can I room with someone who is in Honors already or no? What should I pick as my other two choices if I want to be part of the action (like located in a central area) but a pretty quiet place also, near the dining halls (very important), and other facilities. I'm in the College of Arts and Sceinces, so preferably somewhere close to those buildings. Also, I would like a relatively newer dorm that's clean and without that community bathroom thing. Any suggestions? Also, am I being totally naive to think there's a chance for a new freshman like me to get into East Campus Village? Does it cost way more? Where is it the cheapest/ most expensive? Thank you to everyone for your help! :)

It's next to impossible to get into Myers non honors. The best places for your wants would probably be one of the hill community dorms like Church, Lipscomb, or Mell- in the middle, but quieter than the high risers and close to O-house(which is getting remodeled over the summer) and the SLC. ECV is only for second-years and is extremely pricey.

Myers and ECV is pretty much an impossibility. You might like Ogelthorpe House (O-House). It is right next to O-House dining hall and it has suite bathrooms. It is pretty quiet as well. A good number of upperclassmen live there. If you want to be part of the action then live in Russell, Brumby, or Creswell, in that order. I lived in Russell and had an amzing time. It is basically the social hub of freshmen life.

how clean are the community bathrooms?

There are a very few (like four) freshman who are in myers but not honors but according to my friends, it is not good to be in myers if you are not in honors because you are not part of the community. I too am trying for college entrance into the honors program but got O' house. All you need to do is make friends in the myers community so if you get in you can raid their room and talk about classes with other myers peeps.

The bathrooms are relatively clean. I lived in Brumby my first year and they were better than expected. Of course you just have to realize that people are nasty and one or two toliets were nasty because people can't just flush the toliet. You learn not to go in the back bathrooms.
