I have an idea on what I should write on my first prompt for personal statements, but the second prompt is stumbling me over.

"All applicants: Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?"

All I know about myself is this:
- I may be considerate at times.
- I listen to people talk and I understand what they are saying and how they feel, I usually sympathize with them.
- I am a hard worker and I try to do things that were given to me right away.
- I'm not a leader or a follower; I just do things that reasonable to right to me.
- I think life is filled with joy and I try to not take anything for granted because it's just the way I am.

That's all I thought of but I don't see how I can type it all up in five hundred words.

Maybe try to combine your consideration for others, your sympathy and instinct to help, and your notion that life is filled with joy. Try to think of a time someone was down and you tried to explain to them your outlook on life and optimism. (You would also be conveying your outlook to the adcoms in the process)

Are you saying that you don’t know how to put these thoughts in an essay instead of a list? You need to think of an overreaching theme to this and outline that, then have a storyline that progresses. Like runnergirl14 says, these are qualities that you should demonstrate through a story you tell.

But “I may be considerate at times” is pretty weak sauce. What is that supposed to say and how is that different from anyone else? This is not a strong enough to be something to be proud of, is it? You should edit this list down and try to focus on really exceptional qualities that you have. This is an opportunity to showcase what kind of person you are that would be an asset to a college community.
